Instability

Another one from whoisfreyy_ on Instagram:

your nervous system is far less concerned with what is good for you than it is with what is familiar.

that's why someone can sincerely pray for healthy love, financial stability, genuine friendships, peace of mind, or new opportunities... and still find themselves pushing those very things away when they finally arrive.

it isn't always because they don't want them.

it's because the brain filters the present through emotional experiences from the past. if inconsistency was your normal, consistency can feel suspicious. if chaos was home, peace can feel boring or even unsafe. if love always came with conditions, healthy love can feel unfamiliar enough to make you question it.

that's why healing is deeper than changing your thoughts. you can consciously want something while your body is still preparing for something completely different.

a lot of what we call "self-sabotage" is really a nervous system trying to protect you using outdated information. it's responding to patterns that kept you emotionally safe years ago, even if those same patterns are now preventing you from living the life you've been praying for.
