A friend of mine at work produced a beat used by the Roots. I said this about Questlove's thoughts.

I feel like on many days after finishing his Roots duties, the studio would be dark, and Questlove would be sitting, absentmindedly playing with his afro pick, just hitting the drum with one stick, repeating, "The [friend] beat was something else."
