I used to joke that if I'd won the lottery while I was working at my old job, I would:

• Continue working there.
• Fund a $100 million retirement plan.
• Send my plan out for RFP each year around the same time as my review.
• If I didn't get a good review, I would threaten my sales person that I would take my business elsewhere.
• So, my salary would have been paid out of the client retention budget, and I would demand a huge pay increase each year.
