We'll make it
We can and will live through this dark period in history. It's up to people in their 40s and 50s to begin to build things back up. Maybe we won't see the fruits of our labor, but at least we will have made the world better for future generations.
What we're seeing now is the death rattle of the Boomers. That generation is the largest in our history, and society has changed according to their moods as they go through the aging process. We got really wild and free when they were young and idealistic in the 60s and 70s. Then they got older and wanted to make money. Hence the materialism of the 90s and 00s. As they got older, they fell prey to Fox News pushing the exact buttons to animate their fears. Now, we have a generation that knows it's near the end, and they can't handle it. Thus the push to take America back to the good old days. We need to usher them out and undo the damage their anxieties caused for this country.
It won't be easy, but nothing worth having is. We elected Trump because he had all the answers that a large segment of the population wanted to hear. They could outsource their thinking and morality to him. It was a complete abdication of any moral and emotional responsibility by the Boomers.
